Dodec-2-enoic acid also inhibits efflux pumps in bacteria and has been shown to be a potential polymerase chain reaction (PCR) substrate. Dodec-2-enoic acid can be produced from fatty acids found in animal feedstocks. Dodec-2-enoic acid is an amide with an angular shape and isomerizes into its cis form when heated.
