Description:
Ponceau SX is an organic compound that can be used as a colorant in foods, drugs, and cosmetics. It is typically used as a food dye to give a red or pink color. Ponceau SX is also used in the determination of amines by the analytical method of potent inducers. This molecule has been shown to generate genotoxic activity via its carcinogenic potential and hydrochloric acid. Ponceau SX has also been shown to have propranolol hydrochloride-inhibiting effects on enzymes such as cresyl violet acetate, which may lead to an increase in enzyme activities.
