Structural studies have revealed the molecular structure of this chemical compound. In vitro assays have shown that it can act as a substrate for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and can be used to synthesize oligonucleotide probes. This molecule can also function as an ester compound with acetate or ethyl acetate units linked by an ethylene glycol chain or alkynyl group.
