Triphenylantimony Oxide is used as a catalyst in the production of isovaleric acid. It has been shown to be a good catalyst for the synthesis of butyric acid by reacting with amines. Triphenylantimony oxide is also a component of metal hydroxides, chloride, and acids that are used as catalysts in organic reactions. It has also been shown to be an effective catalyst for the synthesis of butyric acid from amines and formaldehyde. The reaction mechanism can be determined through nmr spectroscopy and ruthenium complex studies.
