Bromophos-ethyl is a pesticide that is used to control pests such as houseflies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, and mice. It works by inhibiting nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the central nervous system of insects. Bromophos-ethyl has been shown to be toxic to animals in the form of inhibition of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, leading to convulsions and death. Bromophos-ethyl may also have an effect on fatty acid metabolism, as it has been shown to inhibit the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) transaminase enzyme.
