The alkenyl radical reacts with another molecule of 3-(thiophen-2-yl)prop-2-ynoic acid to generate a 2,3,5,6 tetraene compound. The mechanism for this reaction is not well understood but it has been shown that it occurs in nature and is important in biomolecular chemistry.
