6-Benzoyl-2-naphthylphosphate disodium salt is a chromogenic substrate that can be used for the detection of glucose in food, as well as other applications. It reacts with glucose to form a fluorescent product that has been shown to be stable and sensitive at low pH. This product is also a conjugate, which means it can react with different ligands such as biotin or dinitrophenylhydrazine. 6-Benzoyl-2-naphthylphosphate disodium salt has been used in the detection of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Escherichia coli O157:H7.
