Friedelin 3,4-lactone is a natural product derived from plants. It is a secondary metabolite that has been isolated from the bark of the tree species Ficus hispida, and is also found in the bark of Ficus indica. Friedelin 3,4-lactone has shown to have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be related to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. Friedelin 3,4-lactone is an analytical reference standard for HPLC analysis with a purity of >98%.
