Celluchrome is a fluorogenic substrate that is used in the food industry for detecting the presence of enzymes such as amylase, protease, and lipase. It can also be used to detect the degradation of proteins in the environment by measuring their fluorescence. Celluchrome is a conjugate, meaning that it contains an enzyme which catalyzes a chemical reaction with oxygen to produce light (chemiluminescence) or with fireflies to produce light (bioluminescence). It is also used as an enzyme substrate in diagnostic tests and culture media. Celluchrome has a CAS number of 816-09-5 and is available in high purity form.
