Product Information
13-Methylberberine chloride is a condensation product of berberine and methyl salicylate. It has been found to have an intramolecular adduct with acetone. The isolation of the 13-methylberberine chloride can be achieved by reacting berberine with acetone in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The 13-methylberberine chloride can be isolated by adding hydrochloric acid to the reaction mixture, which will form a precipitate. Upon addition of water, the precipitate will dissolve and then crystallize out as a white solid.
