Tricyclo[8.2.1.0,3,8]trideca-3,5,7-trien-13-one is a bicyclic ketone that can be used for the reduction of a wide range of substrates. It has been shown to be more selective and efficient than other reducing agents such as sodium borohydride or lithium aluminum hydride (LAH). Tricyclo[8.2.1.0,3,8]trideca-3,5,7-trien-13-one selectively reduces the carbonyl groups at the 3 and 5 positions of the substrate while leaving the double bond at position 7 intact.
