Product Information
Lariciresinol acetate is a compound derived from the lignan lariciresinol. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of a number of pathogens, including phytophthora and sibirica, which are oomycetes and members of the kingdom Stramenopila. Lariciresinol acetate is also an antimicrobial that can be used to treat infection by pathogenic bacteria. This compound inhibits methanol production in Pithium cepae and Pythium ultimum, both of which are plant pathogens. The inhibition of methanol production may be due to its ability to inhibit enzymes involved in the conversion of amino acids into methanol.
