Product Information
Methyl 4-amino-3-hydroxynaphthalene-2-carboxylate (MAHNC) is a histone methyltransferase inhibitor that prevents the addition of methyl groups to lysine residues in histones. MAHNC has been shown to inhibit the formation of actin filaments and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. It also inhibits the production of effector proteins by binding to nucleobases, preventing transcriptional activation and cellular differentiation. The enzyme's homologous methyltransferase activity is inhibited by the presence of a second molecule of MAHNC. This drug is being studied as an epigenetic treatment for cancer and other diseases.
