It inhibits the production of prolymphocytic cells and has been shown to have antihistaminic properties. ICI 211965 is administered orally as a liposome formulation, which prevents it from being broken down by enzymes in the stomach and small intestine. This drug also inhibits the biosynthesis of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E2 and leukotriene B4 in neutrophils, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects.
