ML 281 is a molecule being studied for its anti-cancer properties. It has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in vivo and to induce apoptosis in vitro. ML281 binds to the histamine H1 receptor, which inhibits tumor cell proliferation by blocking the mitochondrial pathway of oncogenesis. It also has bactericidal activity against bacteria via inhibition of protein synthesis. The chemical structure of ML281 is a cetirizine derivative that contains an amide linkage between two amino-acid residues.
