It has been shown to be effective in inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. The EC50 values for 4-chloro-2-(4-pyridinyl)-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine are 0.1 and 0.3 μM for t47d cells and A549 cells, respectively. This compound is also an inducer of apoptosis in cancer cells with an EC50 value of 1.0 μM for the A549 cell line.
