Description:

Mepanipyrim-2-hydroxypropyl is a synthetic, broad-spectrum antibiotic that has been used to treat bacterial and protozoal infections. It is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as some fungi. Mepanipyrim-2-hydroxypropyl has shown activity against the AIDS virus and other viruses, including herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), influenza A virus, vaccinia, adenovirus type 3 (Ad3), poliovirus types 1 and 2, pseudorabies virus (PrV), human papilloma virus type 16 (HPV16) and Epstein Barr Virus type 1. Mepanipyrim-2-hydroxypropyl is also effective against some parasites such as Plasmodium falciparum.
