It is also used to measure the activity of beta-glucosidase, alpha-galactosidase, and alkaline phosphatase. The product has been tested for environmental sensitivity and has not shown any effects on bacterial growth. 4-Nitrophenyl 3,6-di-O-(a-D-mannopyranosyl)-b-D-mannopyranoside can be used as a high quality stain for histological sections and immunohistochemical studies.
