2-Nitrophenyl 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-b-D-galactopyranoside is a fluorescent substrate for β-galactosidase. It is used in food testing, environmental testing and diagnostics. This substrate is also used to detect the presence of β-galactosidase activity in cells and tissues.
