Beta-naphthyl stearate is an inhibitor of pancreatic lipase. It is a homologous compound that binds to the acyl chain region of pancreatic lipase and inhibits fatty acid hydrolysis. This inhibition causes an accumulation of fatty acids in the cytosol, leading to cell death. Beta-naphthyl stearate has been shown to inhibit tumor cells in vitro and in vivo. The mechanism of action is thought to be due to its ability to inhibit phosphatases and monolayers, which are important for tumor growth. This compound has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties as it inhibits tumor growth by preventing the production of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid.
