The inhibition constant for this compound is less than 1 mM when it is used as an inhibitor of protein kinase C. This substance also has a ph of 7.5, which may be due to its ion-exchange properties with the phosphate group on serine or tyrosine residues. It can be used as a cryopreservative because it has good stability at low temperatures.
