Neotuberostemonone is a natural product derived from the stemona tuberosa plant. It has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase and bisdehydroneotuberostemonine, two enzymes involved in the regulation of neurotransmission. The structure of neotuberostemonone was determined by x-ray crystallography and conformational analysis. Neotuberostemonone is structurally similar to lactam compounds such as stemotinine and tuberostemoninol, which are also found in the stemona tuberosa plant.
