Product Information
Triosephosphate isomerase 1 (TPI1) is a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of dihydroxyacetone phosphate and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate to erythrose-4-phosphate and phosphoenolpyruvate. TPI1 has been shown to be an important regulator of glycolysis and gluconeogenesis, as well as in the maintenance of cellular redox state. This protein can act as both an inhibitor and activator depending on its interaction with other proteins. TPI1 has been implicated in the development of cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and atherosclerosis. TPI1 is also a research tool for studies into ion channels, receptor binding, and antibodies.
