Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal esterase L5 is a peptide that belongs to the ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase family. It is expressed in humans as an approximately 20 kDa protein. Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal esterase L5 is an activator of the ion channel TRPM4 and also inhibits the protein interactions of SH2 domain proteins. This enzyme has been used as a research tool for studying ion channels, cell biology, and pharmacology.
