Product Information
ARS-853 is a potent inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC) and PKC-related enzymes. ARS-853 has been shown to be an activated, potent inhibitor of PKC in vivo in a mouse tumor model. The mechanism of inhibition is thought to be due to the binding of ARS-853 to the catalytic site of PKC, which blocks phosphatase activity. PKC inhibitors are used in cancer treatment because they help control cancer cell signaling pathways. ARS-853 has been shown to inhibit phosphatases, such as PTP1B, which regulate multiple cellular processes including glycogen synthesis, lipid metabolism, and insulin secretion.
Pharmacokinetic studies have shown that ARS-853 is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and eliminated primarily by hepatic metabolism with a half-life of about 2 hours.
