Resorufin N-acetyl-b-D-galactosamine (RnAG) is a fluorogenic substrate that can be used to measure the activity of beta-galactosidase, which is an enzyme that cleaves a molecule of galactose from a molecule of D-galactose. RnAG has been used in many different fields, including biological and environmental testing. It is usually conjugated to a ligand for use as an enzyme substrate or chromogenic substrate. RnAG has also been used to detect the presence of bacteria in culture media and food samples by measuring bioluminescence.
