Sootepin D is an isolated compound from the plant Gardenia jasminoides. It has been found to have in vitro cytotoxic activity and antitumor effects. Sootepin D inhibits the dna replication of human liver cancer cells, as well as the acetate extract of human liver cancer cells. Sootepin D has also been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cervical cancer cells by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is possible that sootepin D may be a new chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of human liver cancer and cervical cancer.br>span style="font-size:10px;">
