LY2365109 hydrochloride is a drug for the treatment of depression. It blocks glutamate uptake by the neurotransmitter transporter type, which leads to an increase in extracellular glutamate concentrations and consequently an increase in neuronal excitability, leading to an improvement in symptoms. LY2365109 hydrochloride has been shown to be effective against depression in a clinical response assay. This drug also has a role in the treatment of skin conditions and food composition. LY2365109 hydrochloride binds to the glutamate transporter and inhibits the uptake of this neurotransmitter by neurons. This binding leads to an increase in extracellular glutamate concentrations, which then lead to an increase in neuronal excitability and thereby alleviation of depressive symptoms.
