3-Aminophthalic acid is a carbapenem antibiotic that is used to treat infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. 3-Aminophthalic acid has potent inhibitory activity against many Gram-negative bacteria, including Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacteriaceae. This drug can be used to treat infections caused by these organisms when other antibiotics are ineffective or cannot be used because of resistance. 3-Aminophthalic acid inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme β-lactamase, which results in the inhibition of protein synthesis and cell division. The chemiluminescent method is a chemical reaction that produces light emission as a result of an exothermic reaction between a diazonium salt and an amine substrate in the presence of hydrogen peroxide.
