Acetarsol is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that is used in the treatment of infectious diseases. It has been shown to have therapeutic efficacy against some strains of bacteria, including Clostridium difficile, and also inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Acetarsol has been found to be highly toxic and should not be taken by people with bowel disease or autoimmune diseases. The therapeutic efficacy of Acetarsol was demonstrated in a cycle analysis study on mice with inflammatory bowel disease. The drug has also been shown to interact with other drugs such as sodium citrate, sodium salts, and monoclonal antibodies.
