Description:
(S)-2-Amino-2-phenylethanol (DPA) is an amide that forms a coordination complex with metals. It is prepared by the reaction of styrene with aziridine in the presence of a base. The amine group on DPA coordinates to the metal, forming a six-membered ring structure. DPA has been used to synthesize chiral ligands for asymmetric synthesis, including those containing aziridine and imine groups. In addition, DPA has been used in microbial production of recombinant proteins.
