Description:Amiridin HCl is an experimental drug that is a potent inhibitor of DPP-IV enzymes. It has been shown to reduce the rate of glomerular filtration and to decrease locomotor activity in rats. Amiridin HCl also inhibits neuronal death induced by tacrine and prevents acetylcholine depletion in experimental models. It has been shown to be effective in treating symptoms associated with diabetic neuropathy when combined with pharmacological agents such as cholinergic drugs, which are used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. This drug has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of tacrine, allowing it to be absorbed through oral administration.
