It also has affinity constants for amines and quinoline derivatives, which are drugs used to control bacterial infections. 5-Aminoindane is structurally similar to triazines, which are agricultural fungicides and herbicides. 5-Aminoindane may be synthesized by sulfonation of an all-trans retinoic acid followed by addition of one or more amines and quinoline derivatives.
