The synthesis of this compound involves the reaction of an aromatic amine and nitrous acid or diazonium salt. 2-AI can be used as an antimicrobial agent against bacteria by interfering with the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor on the bacterial cell membrane. FTIR spectroscopy can be used to identify its chemical structure.
