3-Acetyl-5-bromopyridine is an antibacterial that has been shown to have a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria in the dilution method. 3-Acetyl-5-bromopyridine binds to the pyridinium group of bacterial enzymes, which alters their conformational dynamics and thereby inhibits their catalytic activity. This compound has shown a good level of activity against both acidophilic and neutrophilic bacteria. 3-Acetyl-5-bromopyridine is also known as nitro (3ABRP).
