This drug also suppresses cancer gene expression and selectively binds to DNA polymerase α. The amide group of 5-amino-1-pentanol reacts with trifluoroacetic acid to form an amine, which then reacts with water vapor to form a hydroxyl group. This reaction solution can be used as a diagnostic tool for detecting the presence of amines or other nitrogenous compounds.
