• Description: Azane is a tyrosinase inhibitor that is used in the treatment of dental plaque, expressed as Streptococcus mutans. Azane is also an anti-inflammatory agent and has been shown to inhibit the growth of spirochetes and viscosa. This drug has been sequenced and the sequences have been submitted to GenBank. Azane inhibits the activity of Streptococcus mutans by binding to its enzyme, tyrosinase, which catalyzes the conversion of tyrosine to L-DOPA, an important precursor for melanin synthesis. Azane inhibits microflora by binding to bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA and inhibiting protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. It has also shown anti-inflammatory properties.
