Product Information

Name:
H-DL-Ala-OEt·HCl
Description:

H-DL-Ala-OEt·HCl (Dabigatran) is a quinolizidine alkaloid that is used in the treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of the enzyme amine oxidase, which converts l-arginine to l-glutamic acid. Dabigatran etexilate, an ester prodrug of dabigatran, is hydrolyzed by esterases in blood plasma to release dabigatran, which then blocks the conversion of l-arginine to l-glutamic acid. This inhibition leads to a decrease in platelet aggregation and thrombin formation and thereby reduces blood clotting. Dabigatran etexilate also binds to primary amines on proteins such as albumin and α1-acid glycoprotein. This binding prevents the binding of other drugs such as warfarin or cl
