Atriopeptin I is a peptide hormone that is produced in the rat mesenteric gland. It has been shown to have β-amino acid, diagnostic agents, ph optimum, and receptor activity. Atriopeptin I has been found to have atrial natriuretic effects and may be useful for the treatment of infectious diseases. Atriopeptin I has also been shown to bind with a monoclonal antibody and enzyme inhibitors as well as having a disulfide bond. The biological function of this peptide hormone is not yet known, but it is thought to be involved in fatty acid metabolism.
