Description:H-Ala-Phe-Ala-OH is a peptidomimetic that has been shown to have hydrogen bonding interactions with caco-2 cells. This compound was synthesized by reacting H-Ala-Phe with H-Gly-Gly in an amino acid condensation reaction, followed by hydrolysis of the amide bonds. The bioisosteres for this compound are tripeptides, which are amino acids linked by peptide bonds. The interaction of this compound with caco-2 cells is thought to be due to the hydrogen bonding interactions between this molecule and the hydroxyl groups on the cell surface.
