H-Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe-His-Leu-Leu-Val-Tyr-Ser-OH is a synthetic peptide that has been shown to inhibit the production of angiotensin and angiotensinogen by interfering with the binding of its receptor. It has also been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), interleukin 1beta (IL1β), and IL6, in human macrophages. HAVY can also inhibit toll like receptor 4 mediated inflammatory responses in vivo. HAVY is an inhibitor of angiotensin II type 1 receptor activity, which may be useful in treating cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerotic lesions, hypertension, and bowel disease.
