This pseudo acid also has a significant activation of n-terminal protein kinase (SB203580) when irradiated with UV light. Ac-Tyr-Val-Lys-Asp-aldehyde can be used as a marker for the apoptotic process because it is synthesized by cells during this process. In addition, it has been shown to produce a red color during staining and can be detected using immunohistochemical techniques.
