2-(Allyloxy)benzaldehyde is an organic compound that is a monomer. It has the chemical formula CH3CH2CHO and is a colorless liquid with a characteristic odor. It can be obtained by the dehydrogenation of benzyl acetate or benzyl alcohol in the presence of transition metal ions, such as copper, nickel, and palladium. The reaction time can be shortened by adding trichloroacetic acid to the reaction mixture. 2-(Allyloxy)benzaldehyde has been shown to have efficient methods for synthesizing active substances with hydroxyl groups.
