2-Amino-4-methyl-1,3-thiazole-5-carboxylic acid is a molecule that belongs to the class of thiazolecarboxylic acids. It has been shown to have antimycobacterial activity in both cell culture and animal models. 2-Amino-4-methyl-1,3-thiazole-5-carboxylic acid inhibits the biosynthesis of mycobacterium tuberculosis by interfering with the synthesis of proteins required for DNA replication and transcription. This drug also has antiviral effects against HIV, herpes simplex virus type 1, and influenza A virus. 2AMTTCA has an antitubercular activity that can be used for the treatment of tuberculosis infections caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It also exhibits potent antiviral activity against HIV, herpes simplex virus type 1, and influenza A virus.
