4-Amino-1-methylpiperidine (4AMP) is a quinoline derivative that has been shown to have antitumor activity in vivo. 4AMP was found to be effective against myeloid leukemia cells, with an IC50 of 5 μM. The drug is synthesized by reacting the corresponding amine with 1-chloroquinoline in an organic solvent. 4AMP inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to histone lysine residues on the chromatin and blocking DNA replication. The drug also has anti-inflammatory properties and may be used for the treatment of psoriasis and other inflammatory conditions. The safety profile of 4AMP is unknown, but it can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea when administered orally at doses greater than 10 mg/kg body weight.
