1-(2-Amino-3-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone is a reactive oxygen species that is formed by the oxidation of aminophenols. It has been shown to react with tyrosinase, which is an enzyme responsible for melanin production. Tyrosinase activity was inhibited in the presence of 1-(2-Amino-3-hydroxyphenyl)ethanone and its analogs, which may be due to the inhibition of tyrosinase activity. This product can be used as an alternative to hydroquinone in the treatment of skin disorders caused by hyperpigmentation such as age spots and liver spots.
