- Aristolone (alkaloid)
Aristolone is a sodium salt of 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, which is also known as anhydrous sodium. It is extracted from the roots of Angelica Dahurica and can be found in the etoac extract of Angelica Dahurica. Aristolone has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against various cancer cells, including human prostate cancer cells. This drug was also shown to inhibit angiogenesis in cultured endothelial cells by blocking the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The oxygenated form of aristolone has been shown to inhibit fatty acid synthesis, which may lead to weight loss.
