Product Information
Name:2-tert-Amylanthraquinone
Synonyms:
- 2-(1,1-Dimethylpropyl)-9,10-anthracenedione
Brand:Biosynth
Description:2-tert-Amylanthraquinone is a hydrogen peroxide donor, which is mainly used to synthesize hydroquinones. It can be used as an alternative to the more toxic and less environmentally friendly hydrogen peroxide. In order to purify 2-tert-Amylanthraquinone, it must be distilled in a vacuum or with a solvent such as benzene or chloroform. Impurities are removed by filtration and then the reaction solution is heated to dryness. The resulting product can then be purified by recrystallization from water or by washing with ether. 2-tert-Amylanthraquinone reacts with phosphorus pentoxide and aluminium to produce hydrogen peroxide, which is catalyzed by acid (e.g., trifluoroacetic acid).
