It is an isoform of amidinothiophene, which inhibits the production and release of cyclic nucleotides. 2-Amidinothiophene Hydrochloride has shown activity against tracheal muscle, adenosine receptors, and phosphodiesterase isoenzymes. This drug binds to the ATP binding site of the enzyme cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase, blocking the breakdown of cAMP into AMP and then ADP.
