3-(Acetyloxy)-7-chloro-5-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one is a drug that binds to human serum albumin. It is an enantiomer of lorazepam and is a specific ligand for α1 acid glycoprotein. This compound has been shown to be effective in the treatment of epilepsy and benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome. It also has a cavity that can be used to bind reactive molecules such as carbamazepine. 3-(Acetyloxy)-7-chloro-5-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin--2--one has been shown to have antitumour effects on cultured cells by inhibiting protein synthesis, thus leading to cell death.
